A Quick Response (QR) code is a type of two-dimensional barcode consisting of black squares arranged on a white grid. Unlike traditional one-dimensional barcodes, which are scanned horizontally, QR codes can be read both horizontally and vertically, allowing them to store hundreds of times more data.
Every QR code contains unique patterns representing specific data (such as a website link, WiFi password, or contact card). When a smartphone camera or QR reader scans these patterns, the device translates them instantly into readable text and executes the corresponding action, like opening a webpage.
QR codes became incredibly popular due to their contactless and fast nature. Today, businesses use them for contactless digital restaurant menus, easy digital payments, product packaging tracking, and fast website redirection.
